In the editorial debate hosted by Bankier.pl, “Women in Finance: Influence, Decisions, Future,” representatives of the financial sector and corporate governance experts discussed the practical implications of the Women on Boards directive, recruitment and succession processes, and the role of supervisory boards in building trust in financial institutions. The debate is part of Bankier.pl’s coverage of the Capital Market Conference in Bukowina, organized by the Polish Chamber of Brokerage Houses.
The debate was moderated by Michał Niewiadomski from Bankier.pl. Among the participants was Ewa Jakubczyk-Cały, Managing Partner at PKF Consult.
Participants emphasized that the discussion about women’s presence in finance increasingly concerns not only representation but, above all, the quality of decision-making processes. In an environment of growing regulatory and reputational pressure, management competencies, the ability to engage in dialogue, and a long-term approach to risk management and organizational strategy are becoming increasingly important.
The Women on Boards directive was discussed as a test of organizational maturity for companies. Panelists noted that simply meeting formal requirements will not be sufficient without improving nomination processes, building a broader talent pipeline, and planning succession well in advance.
Particular attention was given to supervisory boards and audit committees, where diversity of perspectives can influence the quality of oversight, encourage challenging discussions, and improve risk assessment. According to the participants, transparency of processes, measuring outcomes, and long-term talent management will determine the real impact of the new regulations on the financial market.
The debate marked the beginning of Bankier.pl’s coverage of this year’s Capital Market Conference in Bukowina.
